About LS-DAB
What is LS-DAB?
LS-DAB (Life Sciences Dean's Advisory Board) is a committee of UCLA Life Sciences students who have been appointed to serve an advisory role to the UCLA College Life Sciences faculty and administration. Members of LS-DAB work closely with Dean Johnson to improve LS curriculum and community.
What is LS-DAB's history?
LS-DAB did not begin under its current name! Originally, the Life Sciences Core Student Advisory and Communication Committee (LS-SACC) was founded in the Spring of 2018 in response to student concerns and in order to give student a larger voice in their education. LS-SACC was absorbed into LSSA as it continued to grow. In 2021, LS-SACC was restructured as LS-DAB, which works closely with UCLA College Life Sciences and Dean Johnson to provide students with the same voice in their education that LS-SACC pursued.
What does LS-DAB do?
LS-DAB hosts bi-weekly meetings with UCLA College Life Sciences administrators and faculty to provide feedback on the life sciences student perspective. LS-DAB members take ideas from those meetings, often utilizing the other committees in LSSA to spearhead initiatives and create positive change at UCLA.
Sounds cool, how can I join?
Most LS-DAB members are active LSSA members (so get involved in LSSA first!), but spots are always held for any UCLA LS student. Recruitment takes place during fall quarter.
